Biography
Nimisha Roy is a Lecturer in the School of Computing Instruction in Georgia Tech’s College of Computing, where she teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses in Computer Science. She also serves as an instructor in Georgia Tech’s Online Master of Science in Analytics (OMSA) program. Her teaching portfolio includes Software Engineering, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing, and the CS Capstone course, among others.
Dr. Roy received her Ph.D. in Computational Science and Engineering from Georgia Tech in 2021. Her doctoral research, supported by the National Science Foundation, focused on scientific computing and data-driven methods to model physical systems—work that continues to inform her interdisciplinary interests at the intersection of computing and real-world applications.
Her current research explores the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in computing education and infrastructure resilience. She is particularly interested in generative AI, sustainable computing practices, and AI-powered pedagogical innovation. She has advised students across undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels, and her work has been published in over 30 peer-reviewed journals, conferences, and book chapters.
Dr. Roy was recognized in December 2023 by the Indian Geotechnical Society as one of the top 75 Indian women leaders in the field of Geotechnical Engineering worldwide. She is also the recipient of several honors for teaching excellence, including the Provost Teaching and Learning Fellowship (2024), the Transformative Teaching and Learning Innovation Incubator Faculty Grant (2024), Undergraduate Sustainability Education Innovation Award (2023) and the William D. ‘Bill’ Leahy Jr. Outstanding Instructor Award (2025). She serves on the Editorial Board for Scientific Reports, a journal published by Nature, and was an academic guest at EPFL in Switzerland.
